Whale watching - Victoria
Today we went whale watching on a very rocky boat an infatable zodiac - it was rather like a rollercoaster travelling at 45-50 mph and at times I was thrown out of my seat ! All worth it though as we saw some visiting transient killer whales. The research boat ahead of us was trying to take skin and faecal samples to analyse where they had come from. We also observed them killing and eating a sea lion - thier favourite food apparently !
We then went to a sea lion sanctury - a protected area so not allowed to go on the rocks.
We were all dressed in orange boiler suits - looking a bit like Telly Tubbies but needed then once the bat had got to full speed !
The Pam Pam took the gentler option of a ferry ride around the harbour and a guided tour of The Parliament Buildings.

Day 14 Vancouver to Victoria
This morning we left Vancouver for Victoria. We travelled on the Queen of Vancouver ferry about and hour and a half crossing to Victoria. On route we saw a pod of Orca Whales - killer whales, so this for David was the best bit so far !
We arrived at Uncle Peter's and Auntie Bobbie's in Duncan an hour north of Victoria to a VERY warm welcome and The Union Jack flag flying outside their beautiful house.
We then went with Peter (tour guide, today ) into Duncan - the home of the Totem Pole, a marina and saw some fantastic views of the bay.
A BBQ with Carolyn and Curtis completed the day with Peter cooking steaks on the BBQ.

Rugby - Abbertsford High School
This was the boys 4th game and judging from all their activities and late nights, they were all pretty tired!
The first match was played in blazing sunshine and was very hot on the pitch.
Luke payed and excellent game ( number 6) and the boys won 17 -10 !
The second match as much cooler as the sun had gone down. Again, another excellent game and they won 45+ to 10 - I lost track of the score. The Pam Pam held up well and managed to record the games despite the heat - she only was hit by a rugby ball once, but received a cuddle from the Captain as an apology !
Off to Victoria tomorrow.......
