Day 6 - David goes Bison hunting at Elk Island

Today we went to Elk Island, a National Park of Canada about a 1 hour drive east from where we are staying. The park is huge - 164 square kilometers so you would not be able to walk it in one day ! There are plenty of stop off points with trails leading to lakes and wildlife but some of these take between 2 and 6 hours to reach. We drove in the car and Dave, as you will see in the pictures, became very close to a Bison. The Bison, however, was unimpressed with little Dave and made a strange growling noise to which Dave headed straight back to the safety of the car !

We then went to the Ukranian Cultural Heritage Village - another living history museum set in a large area of land. The Pam Pam was playing the part and asking all historical questions and Dave tried to catch the train..... He was also offered work bailing the hay in the Ukranian village at $1 per day - a good wage for the era, including board and lodging in the hay barn !

Our evening meal was at Montana's, where Tiger and Dave had the "as much as you can eat ribs." They were given Montana's T- shirts and we all had fun colouring in the paper table cloth. It was allowed - they even provided the crayons !
