Dear All,
We are travelling with Luke and Gravesend Grammar school to Canada to support the boys in their rugby tour between July 23rd and August 9th 2008.
In our party are Tiger, David, Mum and myself. We are travelling between Edmonton and Vancouver and are all very excited about the trip as it is the furthest that any of us have ever been before.
I hope that I will be able to share some of our experiences and photos with you all as we travel.
I hope (if I can overcome any technical difficulties?) to update this every day, so please remember to check this site daily !!!
Happy Blogging :)
Love, Julie xx

Will miss you big sister!
You never know, by the time you are back, you might be an Auntie Julie again!
Have a lovely time, and I am looking forward to sharing your experiences and following what you are doing.
Good luck to Luke in the rugby!
Love Jonny, Myrtle, and "bump" x x x
still 16 hours to go
We are all busy packing our new red and pink suitcases. There is a prize apparently for the loudest luggage and I think that The Barwell's Claret and Blue Army will win hands down......

We arrived after a 9 hour journey with 39 boys and 5 teachers - it was difficult to distinguish the boys from the teachers, and that is really showing my age !
Had some sleep and now ready to hit Galaxyland at West Edmonton Mall.
The house is very Canadian and quaint with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a swimming pool.
David has already been "bear hunting" but all he has managed to find are a few Woodpeckers in the trees....
Will post up some pictures later tonight...
Sounds great!
Tell David that if he wants to catch a bear then he needs to set a bear trap.
Love to all,
Jonny x x
Thursday 24th July.
This morning we were all up at the cracck of dawn, somwhere between 5 and 6am, possibly due to jet-lag?
After breakfast we had a drive to West Edmonton Mall about 30 minutes away from the house. Tiger did a grand job of negotiating the left hand drive car and steered his way between the very large truckers on the Highway.
At the Mall, Tiger, Dave and myself went on The Mindbender extreme rollercoaster and it certainly was as it "says on the tin." David is still suffering the effects and has not been himself since! Mum watched the entertainment and was a very responsible "bag holder."
We then did a little souvenier shopping and checked out the local Abercrombie and Fitch store. However, the only one to buy anything was David !
In true tourist style, we had a session on the Euro-glide, a freestanding motor powered walking machine. The teacher said the "I was a natural" but I suspect this was a sales spin !
Supermarket shopping followed and then a walk down the Trail to the lake whilst Mum rested. An Italian meal completed Day 1.
Best bits corner:
Tiger "The Mindbender."
David "The Mindbender."
Mum "Having a cuddle with a Disney-like character."
Me "The Euro-glide."
Hey Everybody... it's DAVID
We are now in bear land country and i have seen about 12 grizzly bears one come towards dad & wulie and i had to save to day . . i walked past nice and calmly ignoring it and then pounced on it, i was awarded by the national park commity for the stupidity of putting my own life in danger . . but dad and wulie praised me.
bye everyone. . . . little dave.
Hi all, photos look great i think i would like that shopping centre!! have a great time and good luck Luke see you all soon xxx
Day 3
In the morning we went to Fort Edmonton a historical fort built in 1846 for the fur industry. It was a living history of the era with people dressed and behaving in the charecters of the year.
Our navigator is nw renamed as "Pam Pam" instead of "Tom Tom" but we are not able to put her on silent - sorry Mum !
In the afternoon we travelled back to St Albert's Rugby club to support the boys in their first two matches.
The under 18's (Luke's team ) played first but were "ripped off" as the opposition were all under 19 and much bigger than our lads.
They unfortunately lost their game but played some excellent rugby despite some injuries of heatstroke and an injured hand.
The second game was also payed against older boys - under 20's but our team won this match.
Watching the boys come onto the pitch in thier kits accompanied by a Bag piper and a Mountie was a very emotional experience and one that I will never forget. It brought a tear to my eye and I felt very proud to be there to support them.
An award ceremony followed and a BBQ for the boys.
2 weeks to go and still loving it
